Dollmaking

Dollmaking

I use to be a dollmaker for awhile. The attraction was creative freedom in both creating the clothing and the personality. Coming from wholesaling, dressmaking and retail, I was always creating for an audience. I was always focused  on what the external needs and goals were. Dollmaking came from within. There was no audience. I could use scraps of anything I wanted for clothing, hair, facial expression. No one was there but myself and the doll I was creating. To this day I have supplies that beg me to come play. And someday when I retire from my business, you will find me old, white haired and creating cloth dolls.
